Sedation Dentistry In Newport Beach

A calm and comfortable dental experience awaits with sedation options at LALUME Dental Studio.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. It’s an excellent solution for those who experience dental anxiety or fear, have a sensitive gag reflex, or require extensive dental work. Dr. Shahira Saad offers a range of sedation options to ensure your visit is as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

Choose the Right Sedation Option for You

At LALUME Dental Studio, we understand that some patients may experience anxiety or fear when visiting the dentist. That’s why we offer a range of sedation options to help you feel calm and relaxed during your treatment.

Also known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a mild sedative that is inhaled through a mask during your procedure. It helps you feel relaxed and at ease, and its effects wear off quickly after treatment. You can even drive yourself home after receiving laughing gas!

For more complex cases or patients with severe dental anxiety, Dr. Saad may recommend general anesthesia. This type of sedation is administered by a board-certified medical anesthesiologist and allows you to be completely unconscious during your treatment.

With oral conscious sedation, you’ll take a prescribed sedative medication the night before and an hour prior your appointment. This puts you in a sleepy, dreamlike-state while keeping all your natural reflexes intact. It makes even the longest appointments seem to fly by, and you’ll likely remember little of the procedure–a relief for our more anxious patients! If you opt for oral conscious sedation, you will need to arrange for someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
